Dashera Festival-India

The crowd surged forward and back with the flashes and cracks of the fireworks. Sparks flew into the air landing on shoulders and heads but no one seemed to notice. The singing and excitement grew louder and thick as the mass waited for the torching of Ravana. The twenty foot tall paper Mache statue stood menacingly in the middle of the square. At first just a few sparks, then more until the figure erupted into flames. The mustached face of Ravana quickly burned and the crowd pushed forward cheering in happiness.
