Lake Mansarovar-Tibet

With our tents set up near the lakes shore I hiked up a hill with prayer flags and sat alone watching the wind change the color and shadows on the water. Kailash arose from behind the clouds and confirmed our good karma as we have seen the mountain every day since arriving. We spent a couple of days camped at the lake. On one we hiked up to the monastery that sits perched on top of a pyramid shape of rock.  Astonishing views rewarded us and as I stood gazing at the azure waters I mulled over the idea of past lives and why I have lived this life drawn to wandering. I still continue this search of something in myself. I go to places where I suffer physically, where I have come close to dying and leave loved ones who mean everything to me, but still I go. Being here, thoughts rush in until I hear a yell from below that it’s time to walk back to camp and our last night before the punishing days ahead on the return trip to Nepal. The evening is filled with good humor and a glorious sunset. We have accomplished something dreamed up over ten years ago and as our Tibetan friend stated that it took ten years for my karma to be right for this trip. Lake Mansarovar, Tibet
