Ribadiso to Pedrouza de Pino (Camino de Santiago)

June 8, 2012 We walked 14 miles to Pedrouza over lush rolling hills of oak and eucalyptus forests. Small villages and hamlets were strung together, tied by the wandering yellow arrows of the Camino. The first few hours provided solitude but before long large numbers of pilgrims began to catch up with us. It has been something of an adjustment walking the last 100 kilometers from Sarria. The prior weeks provided so much solitude that I have begun to miss lack of people. Pilgrims can get their compostela for walking the Camino by doing the last 100km, alot less time consuming and easier than the over  900 that I have done. There were lots of wild flowers along the path today and the usual bird chorus through the early morning fog. The moon is in its waning phase now. We arrived in Pedrouza after 5 hours of walking and enjoyed a cold beer at a small cafe until our hotel opened. The rest of the day was relaxing with an enjoyable lunch with Greg who we saw walk by and invited over to sit and enjoy the afternoon. Journal: “Tomorrow is the last day of walking. After thirty four days I will have walked the whole Camino. I wasn’t sure I could do this and to being so close to the end has me anxious. The day to day routine and the quiet alone time with only ones thoughts has been a long thirty four day moment in my life that has brought change to my mind and soul.”
